Dear First Grade Families,
We are starting our big design project for the first quarter. This quarter we are focusing on the science standard force and motion. Your child will be participating in a number of different activities while learning about force and motion. Some of the key words they will be learning about include: gravity, push, pull, force, motion, and different positional words. The unit will conclude with students designing and building cardboard marble mazes. In order to build the mazes we are looking for the following supplies to be donated:
shoeboxes
empty toilet paper rolls
empty paper towel rolls
straws
popsicle sticks
tape
marbles
If you would like to donate any of the supplies above we would really appreciate it. Please make sure to check out your child’s teacher’s twitter page and Herbert Mill’s website for pictures covering this fun unit. We will also be displaying the marble mazes on October 5th from 5:30-7:30 at the Cardboard Design Challenge Showcase Night. More information on that coming soon. We can hardly wait!
Sincerely,
The First Grade Team
